Managing Partner History and Philosophy
Noell and Steve have been friends for nearly 30 years and share—in common—a childhood spent in beautiful Tulsa, Oklahoma, a love of the well-designed homes in the Maple Ridge neighborhood there and each other’s shared experience as long-time naval aviators.
They formed The Maple Ridge Group in 2003 with the premise that attention to detail, a focus on proper design and a familiar and deliberate approach to team-building can deliver a superior client experience during construction and an exceptional home upon its completion.
The goal of the client process is to deliver upon the many objectives and high ambitions our clients share when they embark on a project. It would be difficult to over-weight how personal those expectations are for our clients.
Integral to the client experience with The Maple Ridge Group is a need for effective dialog, advice and collaboration between client and builder. Our process of engaging, understanding and leading the firm’s clients through pre-construction, construction and occupancy phases is meant to simplify what can be a complex process.
The standard for how we’ve done and how we are doing is equally simple—will our customers testify that they were delighted with the level of customer care, knowledge and quality they received? We believe meeting that high standard is our critical objective.
Biographies
Noell Michaels
Noell co-founded The Maple Ridge Group in 2003. Since that time, Noell has served the company in a variety of capacities—most notably—co-managing each company assignment. Noell brings a keen team-building focus to client development, pre-project planning and to every phase of on-site management. Aided by his direct experience renovating homes, he plays a broad role in how each project comes to form.
He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin—where he attended on a Navy ROTC scholarship—earning a B.B.A. in Finance in 1981. Upon graduation, Noell served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. After earning his Navy wings, he flew the P-3C Orion and served as the Quality Assurance Division Officer while with Patrol Squadron 50.
After nearly seven years of naval service, Noell entered the full-time M.B.A. program at the Darden School at UVA and graduated with the class of 1990. After Darden, Noell had a successful career stint in business jet sales with Gulfstream Aerospace and was named Gulfstream’s Salesman of the Year in 1997. Today, Noell serves as Managing Partner of The Maple Ridge Group.Steve Nicholson
Steve co-founded The Maple Ridge Group in 2003. Drawing on his extensive background in construction management, Steve has played a major role in the Maple Ridge Group’s growing roster of projects—be it new construction, renovation or land development. Steve has extensive hands-on experience working in the construction trades and is particularly well-versed in the most up to date building science strategies that result in long-life and healthy house design.
He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa—where he attended on a football scholarship—earning a B.B.A. in Marketing in 1980. Upon graduation, Steve served as an officer in the Marine Corps and flew the carrier-based A-6 Intruder.
After leaving the Marine Corps in 1988—among his other entrepreneurial ventures—Steve co-founded Nicholson & Nicholson, a residential general contracting firm in Oklahoma and Tracer Corp., an aviation surplus supply company. Today, Steve serves as Managing Partner of The Maple Ridge Group.
